Volunteer at the Fog Fest
Looking for Volunteers!
Organizing an event of this magnitude encompasses a multitude of arenas and a significant way in which one can support the Fog Fest is to assist us in one of these. By volunteering at the Fog Fest, you will build a new relationship with some interesting people and so will we; you’ll make a contribution to our extraordinary community, while the Fog Fest Organizing Group receives a highly appreciated helping hand; or you might gain extra experience, while we will be thrilled to add your skills to our organization. Become part of a group of people who know how to get things done, while having lots of laughs along the way. Volunteering for the Fog Fest is a winning combination.
Going Green
For the last few years, the Fog Fest has staged a huge effort to lessen our environmental footprint. We serve food and drinks in biodegradable “containers”, cooking oil will be picked up for use in cars that run on bio-fuels, all leftover food will be sent to a composting company, and the use of plastic anywhere will be highly discouraged. Community cooperation is, as always, crucial to the success of any endeavor. The Fog Fest has put considerable effort into creating the Resource Recovery Centers, which are to be found at each intersection, with extras around the Food Courts. These stations are monitored by members of 2 community groups, who are there to educate the public about what can be recycled, what can be composted, and what still needs to go into the trash. You can imagine that this task requires lots of manpower. We welcome anyone interested in assisting us. Be part of a community that believes in the value of creating a responsible, sustainable, and healthy lifestyle.
Music
The Entertainment Committee is always appreciative of finding people who are interested in being an assistant stage manager. Being an assistant stage manager is a position which requires you to have a lot of fun enjoying the music, the musicians, and the reactions of the public. It occasionally requires strong organizational skills and a willingness to give a burst of hard work. If you’re interested, please contact us and we’ll promise you a very fulfilling weekend of volunteering.
Block Captains
One of our major yearly recruiting efforts involves signing up people to be Block Captains. If you feel inspired to pleasantly stroll around for a couple of hours in your assigned 2 blocks on Palmetto Ave, be a first contact with the public, meet old friends and new, and get to know and assist the vendors as needed, please consider volunteering in this capacity. You will be given a Block Captain vest to wear so people will recognize you easily, and the radio you will be carrying with you during your shift will give you direct access to your coordinator in case you need assistance with something. This is one of our most popular volunteering jobs. Many people rejoin us year after year. Give it a try and see for yourself.
Parade
Another important task we need help with is getting the parade organized on Saturday morning. The parade has grown over the years and the logistics in organizing the line-up and in having the parade progress flawlessly requires the help of many hands. Assisting with this event will give you a chance to become acquainted with many of the organizations in and around Pacifica. The atmosphere of excitement which hangs around this event is delightful to experience. We would love for you to be part of this.
Fun Fest
The Family Fun Fest, a “free play festival” which emphasizes participation and a sense of community through competitive and cooperative play, takes place on Sunday afternoon at Ingrid B. Lacy Middle School. The Pacifica Parks, Beaches and Recreation Department, who organizes this event, invites anyone who would like to lend them a hand, or who is interested in the training for game leaders, contact the Parks, Beaches and Recreation Department at (650) 738-7381.
Please give me a call or send me an email if you feel you have time, creativity or energy to share and be part of a celebrated happening!
