Fog Fest Fundraiser Sets Organizing Group on Track to Flourish

Pacifica, CA May 23, 2024 — Fog Fest Organizing Group (FFOG), the all volunteer community group behind this year’s annual Pacific Coast Fog Fest, would like to thank everyone who attended the first official fundraiser to help #SaveFogFest. Over 200 community members showed up to Winters Tavern last Sunday to enjoy live music, sunshine and good vibes for a great cause.

“I was thrilled to see how many people came out to show their love for our longtime tradition” says Kim Lerohl who recently joined in on the efforts and organized the fundraising event. “The generosity shown was a perfect example of how tight knit our community really is” she added.

Lerohl is still working to track down the final silent auction winners but early reports show that she and her fellow community members were able to raise over $9,000! As a reminder, all funds raised benefit Fog Fest to help cover rising production costs and ensure the 35+ local non profit community organizations, who volunteer on the day of the fest, receive money for their work.

Fog Fest President John Beckmeyer hopes to address community concerns and share more information in the coming month as his team gears up for a few more fundraisers while still also planning the 37th Annual Fog Fest set for September 28th and 29th along Palmetto Ave.

“We understand how much Fog Fest means to the fabric of our community and we are working diligently to offset the increased costs to keep it alive” Beckmeyer says. “We have seen the commentary online from concerned community members and are working on a FAQ sheet to help better explain how it all works” he notes.

FFOG also wants to extend a heartfelt thank you to Kim Lerohl, all the bands that donated their performances — Offshore Winds, Public John, Native Elements, Midnight Mixtape, and Whisper to Thunder and of course the owners of Winters Tavern CJ and Corinne for hosting and contributing to the event. Also sending a special shout out to Kelli Collins for providing the tacos, Lola Carr for donating the Quirk seltzers, and Chasta and Dennis Willis from Soundwaves TV for helping out with promotion.

A more formal announcement discussing this year’s budget, how the vendor program works, and who is currently serving on the board and its sub committees to follow soon after the groups next board meeting in June. Join us for live music, food and drinks, silent auction, and more. Your $25 ticket includes food donated by P-Town Catering & Pop Up and a Quirk Seltzer drink donated by Boulevard Brewing Co.

Pacific Coast Fog Fest Board of Directors Seeks Community Support to Make This Year’s Event Possible

Pacifica, CA April 10, 2024 — To our fellow community members who love Fog Fest and want to see it happen this year, we invite you to get involved! We are currently recruiting volunteers to fill specific roles that are necessary to put on the 37th Annual Pacific Coast Fog Fest.

This year we are up against some significant challenges with recruitment, regulations and rising costs. Since our last public update, I’m glad to share that we have added 8 new members to our team and continue to optimize our budget. However, there is still a very high chance that if we do not address the current needs this year’s Fog Fest will not happen. That would crush our community — local businesses and organizations would suffer and we would potentially lose this cherished, long standing tradition forever.

So I ask for your help once again. Please see below and reach out if you can join the effort to #SaveFogFest!

Did you know? All proceeds from the festival each year are given back to the community groups that participate. The total amount awarded since the year 2000 is over $1.25 million!

On the festival days, our community groups staff booths, handle parking lots, marshall the parade, act as block captains helping out visitors throughout the day, hang banners, put out traffic control signs, move equipment, and more.

About the Fog Fest

The Pacific Coast Fog Fest each year promotes the City of Pacifica, attracts visitors, celebrates our community and raises funds for local community groups as well as the “Gift for Pacifica Fund.” Now over 50 groups benefit and to date, an amount of $1,250,000 has been donated back.

The Fog Fest was created in 1986 to promote Pacifica and to celebrate our marvelous coast. The last full weekend of September was chosen because historically the weather is unbeatable. The Fog Fest kicks off Saturday morning at 10 am with the Parade, honoring the local community and a competition for best float. Then stay and enjoy our Arts and Crafts booths, Food and Beverage booths, Music & Entertainment, Family Fun Fest and a variety of other activities.
