What’s Shaking at This Year’s Fog Fest
Welcome to the 31st Annual Pacific Coast Fog Fest. Join us for a fun-filled weekend September 24 and 25 from 10am to 6pm.
The weekend kicks off with our Discover Pacifica Parade, Saturday morning, at 10am. This year’s theme is, “In Fog We Trust.” This year’s we welcome grand marshal, meteorologist, Rosemary Orozo from KTVU Channel 2. Rosemary will be broadcasting live before the parade. It is with great pride that we welcome our honorary grand marshal, US Olympic Ruby player, a native to Pacifica and some have labeled him, “The Beast,” Danny Barrett.
Also appearing in the parade this year, (and on display all weekend), will be the recreated replica vehicle from the cult classic movie, “Harold & Maude.” The Jaguar-Hearse made it debut in Pacifica, where in the final scene the vehicle met its demise at the cliffs of Mori Point. The recreated Jaguar-Hearse is courtesy of the Ken Roberts Collection.
The Parks, Beaches and Recreation Departments will host two events, both on Sunday, with the annual Fog Jog and Stride beginning at 9am. The event is a 5-mile run and a 3-mile stride/walk along our beautiful coast. Registration is online but day-of registration is welcome. Then on Sunday at 1pm they host the annual Family Fun Fest. Join them in the fields at IBL Middle School for some healthy family fun, both competitive and cooperative.
Bring home a Fog Fest souvenir. There will be a variety of apparel and glassware to choose from. Also, unique to our event are our Fog Fest wines made possible by Oceana Market. These wines are only available at Oceana Market in Eureka Square Shopping Center while supplies last. Available in a Cabernet Sauvignon or Chardonnay, both adorn the 2016 Fog Fest design.
Enjoy 3 stages of live music all weekend long, over 200 arts and craft booths and vendors, kids Classic Amusement area with fun carnival like rides and games, lots of great festival food and drink. For the 21 and over crowd, try the Fog Fest signature cocktail, the Fog Cutter. The cocktail is made with and approved by famous Red Rocker Sammy Hagar with his Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum. Take a selfie with your Fog Cutter and “Show Sammy the Love,” by #hash tagging on social media.
Parking: This year additional parking will be located at Oceana High School directly across Highway 1 at Paloma & Oceana Blvd. Free street parking where allowed, limited preferred public and handicap parking at the north and south ends of Palmetto Ave. Look for parking attendants and signs. Samtrans will reroute buses along Francisco Blvd dropping off festival goers 1 block from the festival grounds.
